I keep hearing the term CANCEL CULTURE. How about you? I know what it means from a worldly perspective, and will say we are seeing far too much of it nowadays! Generally, it is false judgment on steroids!
Let me describe God's grace-filled version of CANCEL CULTURE!
In God's version, He is willing to CANCEL the debt of our sin if we confess and repent of our sin and ask Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior. That my friends is a beautiful thing! It is nothing like the worldly version, which heaps condemnation and guilt on the object of their disdain.
Paul the Apostle described what happens when we call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Colossians 2:13-14:
"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having CANCELED the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, NAILING IT TO THE CROSS.."
God, in His great mercy, instead of eternally tagging us as CANCELED or condemned, sent His only son Jesus Christ to offer to all the way of redemption. Jesus paid the price on the cross!
Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:17-18
In God's version of heavenly cancel culture, anyone who calls on the name of the Lord is released from condemnation and given new life, eternal life! This is not a fairy tale! Those who believe, trust, and rely on Jesus Christ become a new creation in Him, putting on the mind of Jesus Christ and casting off worldly thinking. The debt of their sins is CANCELED and removed as far as the east is from the west.
Then these new believers begin to live by the commands of God found in His Word, the Bible. They do that as a loving response to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and their Heavenly Father. They are so filled with gratitude at the CANCELING of their debt of sin, they want nothing but to serve God and put a smile on their Heavenly Father's face!
Paul said this about these new believers, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
I urge you to come to Jesus Christ and be freed from the eternal debt of your sin.
- Come receive God's wisdom and be set free from the evil, ever-changing thinking in the world.
- Come embrace the light and run from darkness.
- Come walk the right way and reject the wrong way.
- Come and be filled with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved!
The eternal debt of your sin will be CANCELED, and you can enjoy the goodness of God with God's people now and forever!
Don't put it off! God warns us in His Word, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27
