Are you weighed down with a heavy heart?

I believe this is for someone today!

I was enjoying my quiet time with the Lord this morning. Determined just to read His word, spend some time in prayer and worship, and not write anything to share. Amid that time, the Lord put the following on my heart to share.

Many of His people are sinking in the muck and mire of this world. Their blessings are great, but they are weighed down with heavy hearts because they have not come near to God. They feel a kind of misty darkness hovering over them and wrapping around them. That darkness they feel is simply the lack of God's light that shines brightly in His presence.

The clouds of anxiety are hovering over them because they have avoided times in the fiery, cleansing, and loving presence of God. That holy place where the fogs of worry and doubt are burned away like the morning fog in a mountain valley melts away in the presence of the rising sun.

These believers seek to satisfy themselves with "things" and entertainment instead of God's manifold spiritual blessings. They hardly seem to miss the times they once had with God back when they first believed in Jesus Christ.

They wonder why they are not satisfied and have seemingly forgotten the refreshing times they once had in their quiet times with the Lord as newborn babes in Christ. Back when they spent hours reading the Bible, in worship and prayer, and fellowship.

If this is you, the Holy Spirit says to you today through the words of Jesus Christ. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

We must then respond and say, "When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek." Psalm 27:8

Remember, there is a wealth of spiritual inheritance waiting for you in the presence of the Lord. So let's take the admonition given to us in James 4:8. "Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

God bless you today as you follow Jesus!
