From the recording Nail It to the Door
Most of the words of this song are directly from the Apostles Creed, an ancient statement of faith that reflects the core beliefs of the early Christian church. I first learned this creed as a child; although I didn't understand it completely. It is as true today as the time it was written. Every statement in it is verified by the teachings of Jesus in the gospels. Unfortunately, some post modern churches have abandoned and even shunned these basic tenets of the faith. But I believe every word in this song, and I pray that you do too!
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven.
He is seated, at the right hand of the Father,
And He will come again to judge, the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, and the holy Christian church,
The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
I believe in God, The Father Almighty.
I believe in God, Jesus Christ.
I believe in God, The Holy Spirit.
I believe in God, Three in One.
