These are the words Jesus spoke to the man He had just delivered from demonic possession. This new Jesus follower wanted to get into the boat and follow Jesus to wherever He was going. That was not what Jesus wanted him to do, so He told him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you." (Mark 5:19)
Followers of Jesus, we need to follow the same example! God has done great things for us and continues to do great things. We, in response, need to GO and joyfully tell the story of God's impact on our lives to our family and friends. They will listen, and God can touch their hearts.
That reminds me of another story in the Bible, the story of the ten lepers Jesus healed in Luke 17:11-19. I encourage you to take a moment to read that now.
In this remarkable story of Jesus' compassion, He healed ten lepers, but only one returned to give thanks to Jesus. Only one out of ten who received that miracle of healing returned to give thanks to the Lord! That is very disappointing! Are we like that thankful one or like the nine who just went on their merry way?
When God does something great for us like saving our souls from eternal damnation, healing us from sickness or demonic oppression, we need to continually thank God and GO proclaim what He has done to our family and friends.
We need to GO and share the Good News of Jesus Christ and how he has affected our lives for the absolute best. Amen!
I encourage you to take a moment now and think of what you can say and how you would say it to your family and friends. I assure you God will use your testimony of our Savior's grace and goodness in our lives to bring others to Him. Amen!
